[2018-10-30] It was a very stormy windy with some rain day. Under these conditions, I wouldn’t go out under normal circumstances. Fortunately, it was only very windy w/o rain in the morning so I proceeded to Family Favorites Kitchen in Mandaluyong.
Based on what I can recall (too lazy to write things down), Family Favorites Kitchen was originally a Pastry/Bakery shop. Later, meals that cater to Filipino tastes were added. We sampled some of their meals & bread/pastry offerings.
Of the three noodles/pasta dishes that were served, all were good and tasty but my favorite would have to be the ‘Longanisa Aglio e Olio’. Very flavorful but not salty plus just a hint of spiciness.
The ‘Spaghetti Bolognese’ and a ‘canton-like’ noodle (not yet on the current menu) served were both good too but the ‘Longanisa Aglio e Olio’ just ticked more boxes for me š
Of the sweet breads/pastries, I liked the ‘4-cheese Ensaymada’ the most. The bread is not too crumbly nor too chewy and the sweet-salty flavor is just right.
The other items served were all ok: The ‘Francesinha Sandwich’ (sausage, ham, beef belly, fontina cheese, beer gravy) was tasty, the mini cupcakes, mini ensaymadas, leche flan & other sweets will delight dessert lovers, the arroz caldo was good (but I prefer mine with stronger ginger spice taste w/c can be fixed by having chopped or minced ginger available), the ‘Bicol Express’ (not yet on the existing menu) is delicious and mildly spicy. I am glad I went out this stormy day š
BTW, you can order baskets of goodies for Christmas.
