I am one of those that believes/thinks/feels I do not need insurance. This was further strengthened by the absence of any major injury/accident from my decades of being a driver and/or pedestrian.
This almost changed when one time I was driving back to Manila coming from the north. It was dawn. The lightning was makes it difficult to see far even with headlights on.
I was on the right side of the road when suddenly a motorcycle with two people on it coming from the left side of the road crossed the path of my car. I slammed on the brakes but to no avail. The 2 riders ended up on the hood/windshield of my car.
Fortunately, there were no major injuries but if I were a split second slower in putting on the brakes, it would have been really a serious accident.
Fortunately for the riders, I was too glad that the worst did not happen that I just took care of everything even without 3rd party involvement/police report/etc.
I don’t think either of the riders had any personal accident insurance. If the damage/injuries were more severe I might not have been as easy to deal with. No one wants accidents but accidents do happen. When accidents happen, it pays to have a personal accident insurance. To know more https://www.malayan.com/products/general/personal-accident.
